Nosara Lately reporters were sniffing around up at Bodhi Tree this past weekend and can now confirm that the aging steel and concrete monolith from the early days of Bodhi Tree – which most of the town thought was being removed, is being refabricated into a private helicopter landing pad for Bodhi Tree guests.

“It was one of the main roadblocks we faced,” said marketing director June Lafrance. “That horrible drive from the Nosara airport. Our guests want a true blue zone experience from the very start. The smell of chicharrones and diesel has always been a difficult first experience to overcome. And with this new facility, we will shave nearly 15 minutes off our guests’ travel time.”

Lafrance went on to say that the lower levels of the historic structure are being converted into cryogenic storage units.  “The technology is not quite there yet, but it is definitely what our guests today will eventually want. We at Bodhi Tree believe in a lifelong relationship with our clients, and these facilities will allow that relationship to be nurtured indefinitely.” In a follow-up email, Lafrance revealed that until the tech is ready, Bodhi Tree plans to use the space as a walk-in freezer.

Local activists are unhappy with both the increased CO2 release from the heli-traffic and the gigantic walk-in freezer. “It just entrenches the factory farming mentality”, sniffed one young woman who was waiting in line at one of Nosara’s 14 taco trucks. “I mean… really?”
