Everyone who lives in this town knows the rainy season can be economically challenging. Nosara Lately can now confirm recent rumors that an unidentified local hotel will indeed be converted to an ICE detention facility during next year’s rainy season, adding valuable jobs and income to Nosara during those critical months.
“It’s a natural fit for both us and ICE,” said the acting director of the hotel, who we will call Jose X, to Nosara Lately. “Nobody can get down the road that leads to our hotel during the rainy season, and for the same reason, no detainees can get away. It’s a win-win.”
Initially, capacity is estimated at 200 persons; however, there is a move afoot to rent the many unused tuk-tuks in the Nosara area that get parked during low season, and convert them to additional sleeping pods, primarily for Hondurans and South Americans. ”These individuals are generally shorter in stature, and can thus sleep in the back of a tuk-tuk.” explained Bose. When this reporter pointed out that this could be considered somewhat racist, Jose Bose breezily replied, “Get over it. The drivers are all Ticos, they sleep in the back seat all the time. Am I racist for saying that? Huh?”
As of press time, the other hotels in the area could not be reached for comment.
