With women’s circles in the Nosara area increasingly encouraging women to come in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing – and peppering their marketing with words like ‘honor’ and ‘explore’ – it is clear that women’s circles in Nosara are becoming ever more fulfilling and liberating.

This has not gone unnoticed by local men.

“It’s not really fair,” said one soft-spoken, bearded, bespectacled man who runs both men’s circles and retreats. “We’re still stuck inside these paradigms with so much penned up inside of us, and so few opportunities to release it.”

When asked why he did not simply encourage loose clothing as a first step, he replied, “I am still working through those issues. But I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress over the past few years, especially with the support of all my brothers.”

For a deeper perspective, we spoke with Candice O’Hara, a well-respected member of the local community and owner of Candy’s Golf Cart Rentals and Interior Design.  She had this perceptive observation:

“I think you underestimate this development at your peril,” she observed. “Many of the traditional offerings in the area have topped out on how much additional traffic they can generate by adding cacao ceremonies and the word ‘somatic’. So they have pivoted into microdosing everyone who comes through the door. Here we have a softer, gentler, drug-free option. I suspect you will see masturbation quietly being added to many more local wellness offerings.”
