Dueling Gondolas: Casa Vitality Strikes Back

Dueling Gondolas: Casa Vitality Strikes Back

Shockwaves rolled through the Nosara community yesterday when the news emerged that Casa Vitality is now backing an alternative Gondola plan that omits Bodhi Tree altogether. Local business heavyweights El Chivo, Howlers, and Olo Alaia  have all thrown their weight behind the new proposal from Casa Vitality, pledging to build the necessary mid-stations that will allow the Gondola to run all the way from K-Section to Playa Pelada.

Our alert readers will remember that Casa Vitality was suddenly dropped from the Bodhi Tree gondola plan late last week, with Bodhi Tree citing ‘environmental impact concerns’ . Bodhi Tree did not specify whether this was due to Casa Vitality’s proposed alligator refuge, the tunnel beneath GBC, or strong opposition from the local indigenous group Beautiful Nosara Fam –  all reported on last week by Nosara Lately. In Casa Vitality’s new proposal, Bodhi Tree is conspicuously absent.

We attempted to reach C.R.H. Hansworthe Esq, owner of Casa Vitality, for comment, but Casa Vitality spokesman and guy with leaf-blowing machine Óscar Martínez Cordero said Hansworthe was in Zurich, meeting with engineering firms and financiers. Reached by email, Hansworthe had this to say:

“We wish Bodhi Tree all the best with their Gondola plan, but we believe our plan will bring the community together in a way the Bodhi Gondola cannot.”

Nosarans we met on the street today universally agreed with this. An easy, fast way to move between Guoines and Pelada, with microbrews at every stop?  Genius. Several even pointed out that the Asada could finally convert the road through Pelada into the full-time flood channel that it already is.

Nosara Lately reached out for comment to the several shadowy forces who really run Nosara. They all agreed that with this new proposal, Hansworthe had outmaneuvered Bodhi Tree. “Rather brilliant”, said one. “Checkmate,” said another.

But their reaction quickly grew more nuanced when they read through the email from Casa Vitality. They immediately zeroed in on Hansworthe’s assertion that the project is “already fully funded.”

“He didn’t come to us”, they said. “And now he’s in Switzerland? Something’s going on here.”

There was a pause, then one said to us, very quietly –

“Follow the money.”

Nosara Lately – despite being a good friend of Hansworthe and a frequent guest on his yacht in Cannes – intends to do exactly this.
