A local surfer from Colorado who has sold his business back home and gotten divorced and doesn’t see the point of pickleball now has too much time on his hands, according to everyone he knows. With nothing better to do, he has sought and gained preliminary approval from the Municipality of Nicoya for a phosphorus mine at Broken Boat Beach.

“I was thinking about starting a strip club,” said Thaddeus Paulsen, when contacted by Nosara Lately. “But then I heard one is going in across from Rinde Mas. Then my buddy in Alaska sent me this article about how phosphorus is going to be the new lithium. I asked Chat GPT about a few things, and found out that Costa Rican law allows eminent domain in the case of critical resource development. Seemed like a great way to expand this little lot I have down at Broken Boat Beach.”

Local surfers contacted by Nosara Lately were already in the loop. “It’s all he ever talks about now,” said one. “It used to be crypto, now it’s this.”

Wanting to get the complete picture, we sent one of our reporters down to Broken Boat Beach to take the local pulse. Unfortunately, our man stopped in at Black Marlin for dinner, and one thing led to another, and the Nosaras Lately truck is still there, but no one knows where he is.

Nosara Lately acknowledges that this story is by no means complete and promises our loyal readers that we will return to this matter as soon as the situation allows.
