Many of our faithful readers have long wondered why K-Section gets coated in molasses all dry season long, while North Guiones turns into a dusty Algerian hellhole. Nosara Lately can now confirm that a brazen operation by the Nosara Police in cooperation with the Nosara Conservation Alliance (NCA) has located the missing North Guoines molasses truck.
Authorities have been aware for several years that the molasses truck devoted to North Guiones was rarely seen there. The working assumption was always incompetence or bribery or both. Their big break in the case came when an NCA night patrol on Guiones beach decided to investigate mysterious twinkly lights visible above GBC – a clear violation of Maritime Zone rules.
Nosara Lately – our finger forever on the pulse of this beautiful and strange community – was aware K-Section’s best-kept secret: a locals-only Molasses Café at the top of Calle sin Nombre. Hidden on the dusty road leading up to Green Sanctuary – a road known only to dog walkers and Bodhi Tree guests searching uphill for the beach – the missing molasses truck could be found most nights, strung with twinkly lights, surrounded by Tommy Bahama chairs, and open for business.
Molasses was sold by the quart in mason jars, but the main offering was ‘hard molasses’, served in pint jars to K-Section old timers, and ‘magic molasses brownies’ – a K-Section native favorite. Local police are tight-lipped, but sources tell this publication that K-Section residents could – and regularly did – have their Amazon packages delivered to the cafe.
NCA spokesperson Lidieth Orozco Acuña was effusive in her praise of the operation.
“It’s a great example of how we can all pull together and ensure the safety of the turtles on Guiones Beach,” she said.
Nosara Lately dropped by the Nosara Police Station to see if anyone had been arrested in the bold nighttime enforcement action and found no prisoners, but our astute reporter did notice that the cracked plastic chairs on the concrete porch have been replaced by some very good-looking Tommy Bahama chairs.
