Trusted sources high up in the Nosara financial community have confirmed to Nosara Lately that key figures in Garza are in conversation with Japanese investors about a large cruise ship facility that would serve all of Guanacaste.

“It’s a natural,” said one local hotel owner. “I mean, you have that postcard beautiful bay, but there are no cruise ships in it.”

One well-placed source in Nicoya told Nosara Lately that the paving of the road south of Garza was done “just for the investor presentation. That’s why they let it go to shit right after”. Pressed for more details, he confided that the Cruise Port investors now believe that a fleet of high-speed landing craft serving Guiones, Pelada, and Barco Quebrada is a better off-boarding solution than continued road investment.

Alamo Car Rental and Avis have confirmed to this publication that they are also in the mix. “We have been asked to leverage our expertise to create a rental fleet of approximately 600 jet skis,”  said Alamo spokesperson Víctor Loria Loría. “We see it as a natural evolution of our role in the community, and we look forward with excitement to this project.”

Municipal authorities in Nicoya had not responded to our requests for comment at press time.
